The annual village mela (fair) was the most awaited event in the area, bringing together people from nearby villages. It was a time of celebration, laughter, and community bonding. Bright lanterns illuminated the open grounds, stalls selling bangles and sweets lined the pathways, and children’s laughter echoed in the air.
Samaira stood near the entrance of the haveli, draped in a simple yellow saree with a matching dupatta covering her head, as was customary in the village. She looked radiant yet nervous; this was her first public appearance with Vikrant since their marriage.
